"15 killed, 83 hurt as southerners defy Israeli gunfire and return to their towns"

This is the headline from an article from the Lebanese news site "Naharnet" dated 01/26/25. As I mentioned the other day the villagers were likely to be killed by the IDF if they were returning. One Lebanese soldier was killed and another wounded as the Lebanese Army was trying to escort villagers.

The ceasefire agreement was the usual type of one in this region that sets conditions and timelines but also gives everybody ample room to defy them and blame the other parties for "needing" to not meet their obligations. Meanwhile in Gaza the same sort of scenario is going on. Thousands of Palestinians are backed up for miles on the coastal highway at the Netzarim Barrier strip that the IDF created across the width of Gaza separating the north and the south. The agreement was that these people could return home at this stage of the ceasefire agreement.

But Netanyahu has claimed that a specific hostage was supposed to be in the 2nd release but is now going to be in the 3rd release and so he is refusing to allow passage. So the thousands are packed on the highway for miles, nowhere to go with drones and jets buzzing around. At least three incidents of IDF attacks and several dead in Gaza over the last 48 hours are referenced in this report from the news site WTOP dated today and sourcing from the Associated Press.

cease fire agreement and get back to their thinly veiled and preferred outcome — completing the ethnic cleansing of Palestinin from Gaza and continue their occupation and dominance in southern Lebanon.

Their big footing, lethal bullying policy is inhumane and despicable. The worm will turn at some point.
