MIC CHECK: Host?

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1259569

I thought we decided on no hosts pretty much by default after lengthy consideration? I'd at least like to see some discussion of the matter first

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, MIRTing is keeping me very busy in terms of DU time.

Also, mad props to Fire Walk With Me for the great job he does bringing content here!

Stay hearty, occupiers!

Edit: I have PM'd Lady Freedom Returns to join the discussion.

17. Thanks for the links. I don't think we need a host or hosts at this point.

Seems to me the forum is doing fine the way it is. Just my opinion of course.

I don't think Occupy Underground needs a host,
and if are required to have one,
I nominate Fire Walk With Me for PRIMARY host.

5. Yeah the previous discussion was basically to decentralize the position as much as possible...

...and in the end we just did nothing and that's worked okay.

If people want more activity, they should be more active.

...until there is consensus within the group to have a poster host. I'm willing to listen but as someone who spent a good deal of energy trying to come up with a model that aligned with the principles of Occupy as generally viewed, I've come around to the view we don't need one. I think in the couple occasions when it has been necessary the juries have made the right call. I haven't seen any signs of significant disruption which was a worry last year when this group was formed.

8. With the amount I post here, I do not feel it would be fair for me to be a Host.

We could treat this forum like a GA, with new tools in place in case of troll or fillibuster or noise.

I haven't noted any intrusions that haven't been handled appropriate to the situation.

11. That poster made like 12 OP's linking to their book for sale.

Multiple posts were hidden by juries.

And I just would like to be better safe than sorry. We are lucky that trolls don't seem to find this group. Host and Juries are the best problems way to handle problems. And I do think that Fire Walk With Me would be the best choice.

16. Whether we want a host or not should be a General Assembly (DU Poll) matter
Sun Mar 17, 2013, 06:14 PM

as well as who we'd want to them to be. If we vote that we want a Host, then those who wish to be Host should speak up in a thread, and someone with DU Star privilege should start a Poll in which the group may vote. Is that correct GA procedure? I admit I marched more than attended GA...
