E.g., Jeremy Hammond is accused of hacking and sharing emails of "security" subcontractor Stratfor, which revealed apparent civil liberties violations by the New York Police Department and spy regimes set up to monitor Occupy Wall Street and other activist groups such as the "culture-jamming filmmakers," The Yes Men. The husband of the judge presiding over Hammond's case is currently employed by one of the law firms whose emails with Stratfor were exposed, and the judge herself was formerly associated with the same firm. Activists are calling for the judge's recusal based on her personal interest in the case.
