South Dakota Democratic leaders say they are optimistic about 2022, see good chance to gain ground

2022 will be a good year for South Dakota Democrats.

That’s the view of South Dakota Democratic Party Chairman Randy Seiler and Executive Director Berk Ehrmantraut. They spoke to a small band of Democrats Friday during the weekly Democratic Forum.

Seiler and Ehrmantraut (seen above in a photo from Ehrmantraut’s Facebook page) said they are speaking to multiple potential candidates for the Senate, U.S. House and governor’s race, and will target winnable legislative races.

They were speaking almost exactly one year before the 2022 general election, set for Tuesday, Nov. 8, and said they are aware the clock is ticking.

“Things are coming up pretty quickly,” Ehrmantraut said.

The 20-something party leader said he wants to focus on core values that Democrats represent: Rewarding hard work with good-paying jobs, investing in families and communities, such as by making sure people have access to health care, and integrity and honesty in state government.
