This statistic is one factor in the continuing trend of brain drain in South Dakota. Brain drain, simply put, is the phenomenon of a states young, college educated population leaving the state, usually for better opportunity and higher wages elsewhere.

(2,738 posts)and citizen workers who can vote were replaced with lower paid illegal immigrant and refugee workers who can't vote.
The conservative employers want the illegal and refugee workers but blame the Democratic for their presence, they recruit and hire the people they blame on the Democratic for being there.
Our laboring and working class residents are no longer voting citizens which makes it much easier to continue the push for conservative and definitely un-democratic and anti-"American," agenda.
Of course this has included making it more difficult to become a U.S. Citizen and more expensive.
The goal is a seriously segregated nation, servants with no rights, and property owing only citizens.
Because conservative governments are not about democracy and equality but about hegemony against those who do the work.

(3,058 posts)For instance, you have a skewed electoral college system that gives a lot of power to undersized states. We know that voters in the small states have outsized power relative to large states (e.g., ID/WY/ND/SD vs CA).
We also know that each state gets 2 Senators - regardless of size.
If you gerrymander the state, have it run by republicans, and implement shitty policies that drive out intelligent people, you end up with those who are economically immobile (either they are old, uneducated, or otherwise can't/won't leave the state).
On top of being uneducated, you are also prone to listen to a variety of librul-hatin' media outlets who focus your anger on anything but the fact republicans don't want a Democratic system.
The list of states that I would potentially visit continues to be shortened and most of those continue to get redder and redder.
