Introverts absolutely hate phone calls. In fact, many introverts will actively avoid making phone calls. When they receive phone calls, theyre more likely to let the call go to voicemail than to answer. While it might be easier for some people to blame anxiety, even non-anxious introverts dislike phone calls.

6 Reasons Why Introverts Dont Like Phone Calls
There are several reasons why introverts dont like phone calls. While not all these reasons apply to all introverts, these are the top six reasons why phone calls and introverts dont mix.
...
1. Phone calls are almost always interruptions.
Studies show that introverts are often more easily distracted than extroverts. Because of this, most introverts have an intense dislike for distractions. When distractions arise, they prevent introverts from getting tasks done. This is especially stressful for introverts who are working to meet deadlines.
Most phone calls are interruptions, even phone calls from coworkers and employers. An introvert who feels obligated to answer a phone call may feel even more resentful about the interruption, especially if the phone call seems to have no real purpose.

(3,178 posts)Back in junior high and high school, I was on the phone all the time. I would see my friends all day in school and still talk to them an hour on the phone after school. What the hell was there to talk about that much? Nowadays when the phone rings, I look at the caller ID and answer it if I feel like it, which most of the time, I don't. I do answer what little family I have left whenever they call but I am more selective with everybody else. And I never answer numbers I don't know or that say Unknown Caller or Anonymous Caller.

(34,514 posts)My mother and I spoke every day. Death ended that.
Most people text now anyway.
My grandmother and aunt used to chat every day about what happened on the soap opera that they watched every day, Days of Our Lives.
I would talk if a friend called. But now it's only robocall and the doctors office. I've switched my regular communication with my PCP (doctor) to messages recently.
Conversation is limited here and most likely to exist between me and the dog.
The downside is that females supposedly have a need to verbally express themselves to assist them in emotional release and problem solving according to communication science research.
That annoys me. It would be nice sometimes to have an ear to bend.
