Happy New Year Loners

Sometimes the holidays are hard for Loners. Sometimes we're glad for the solitude.

Whichever situation you find yourself in this year, know that you're not really alone. I fall (mostly) into the leave me alone category.

Loner love from afar.

BTW and P.S. : Special love to all of us with animals who find fireworks overwhelming. This includes my dog, cat, and bunny. New Year and the 4th are hard nights at my house...

I am about to turn in, like I have done for the last 30 or 40 years, and when I wake up in the morning, the new year will have come without bringing me cotton mouth and a headache. Perhaps I will get up about 5:00 AM and set me off some fireworks.

My wife is out of town with relatives, but I have my two dogs here. I'm in our new house and the solitude is welcome. It's been a very hectic few weeks. My older dog used to have a problem with fireworks, but she's deaf now and sleeps through it. I'm in a sparsely populated part of Northern California's Gold Country. I have been told to expect a lot of gun fire tonight. Nothing yet, so far.

I've spent many holidays alone and it's never bothered me.

but no fireworks tonight! Of course, it's only 9:30pm... still some time til Midnight. But I haven't even heard a firecracker go off. Usually this place is all smoke by 11pm, even on New Years. Maybe they shot the whole wad last 4th of July. I do live with a bunch of trumpers who were probably "celebrating" their ascendency!

I'm just hanging out tending the black eyed peas on the stove and listening to jazz. I wouldn't go out tonight if you paid me.

During my drinking days I very much considered New Years Eve "amateur night".

My blackeyed peas are soaking overnight. Gonna make cornbread tomorrow and take it to my grandparents. I don't really like the peas, but if I put enough Louisiana hot sauce on them they're not too bad

No fireworks for some odd reason. Glad about that though.
As a disclaimer, I am not exactly alone. My husband has frontal lobe dementia, altered reality and LBD and is basically a zombie. He sits in a chair pretty much all day. And then there is me, my two dogs and three cats. They are good company and keep me sane along with people like you and others on the internet.

Home alone, as usual; just me and the cat. And we like it that way. The cat is asleep; I'm watching Netflix and eating pretzels. It's quiet and comfortable, no party, no noise. My idea of a nice New Years Eve.

I celebrate every day as if it was Thanksgiving, Christmas (or your version of it), New Years, my birthday and so on.

Why?

Freakin WHY NOT?

IT’S THE ONLY DAY WE’VE GOT!

For reasons unrelated to new year’s, I had a nice bonfire with summer and fall’s cuttings. It’s legal here in the winter.

I have been listening to the Opera Channel on WQXR over the internet these days. Escape from the incessant Jingle Bells and such.

Starting off the new year with some gorgeous arias.

Filling the year, as always, with music!
