They did it for the same reasons we do it today. Some were artists and had to do artwork. They were pretty and people admired them. Can you see the artist, or his/her family, saying to others "come see what what he/she drew here. Isn't it wonderful ". People are people in a lot of ways.

Obviously you didn’t bother to checkout the podcast otherwise perhaps you might have an intelligent comment to contribute, rather than a dismissive, idiotic, trolling comment that demonstrates little intelligence on the subject.
Oh of course, you already know everything there is to know about cave people. Why do we even have the field of anthropology?
