Podcast host Joe Rogan once more spread racist stereotypes on a recent episode of his massively popular show, The Joe Rogan Experience.
During an episode released Feb. 4, Rogan was talking with guests Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti about their dislike for elected Democrats such as Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff. The conversation pivoted towards U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who was accused of antisemitism in 2019 after tweeting Its all about the Benjamins in reference to why American politicians defend Israel.
Omar later apologized for the tweet. Last week, House Republicans voted to remove her from the Foreign Affairs Committee, citing her alleged antisemitism.
Rogan told his hosts he doesnt believe Omar should have apologized.
Thats not an antisemitic statement, I dont think that is, he said. The idea that Jewish people arent into money is ridiculous. Thats like saying Italians arent into pizza. Thats fking stupid.

Hmmm...I think I have heard that "defense" before.

(4,213 posts)Rich and influential people are into money, period, regardless of their stripes. I think, though, that Americans are more into pizza than Italians.
Rogan is coarse, like a high school jock who never grew up.

(4,524 posts)People like Rogan have trouble facing themselves as they really are. And they project like crazy. Probably he does not know that it was a Jewish person who warned us, in the Jewish scriptures, that the love of money is the root of evil. And another Jewish person warned us that God expects us to be generous with poor people and not forget that our ancestors were once slaves (probably true of everyone, if we go back in time far enough). Growing up in a Jewish neighborhood, I learned how nice most Jewish people are. And I am grateful to the Jewish scriptures for giving my Methodist Abolitionist ancestors the courage to stand up against slavery and oppression.
