Emperor takes the lead in pagan parade

Chester was back under Roman control on Thursday, December 19 as soldiers from Deva Vitrix legion paraded the streets with torches.

The Saturnalia parade was organised by Roman Tours Ltd in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council.

When the parade reached Eastgate Street, torches were lit and the Emperor (played by Nicholas Fry) made a proclamation before releasing the Lord of Misrule.
