The Sikh religion feeds the hungry.

The Sikhs believe in feeding the hungry and they do this daily in making sure those in need have something to eat . Yet Christianity well evangelical Christians want to put Ten Commandments in schools and yet these so called Christians they do not care if the kids in school have enough to eat.

I’m very impressed with these human beings actions they follow their religious beliefs.

They will tell you they are following them exactly as God wants.
How about being good because it is the right thing to do as a human?

Do you think the millions killed in the name of Christianity did not believe they were following it's teachings?

But some people just won't be good humans no matter what, and those people will always find an excuse to be bad, even if it's nothing more than "Because I felt like it."

I don't think it makes much sense to blame all the world's ills on religion. If all of the evil people in the world were religious and only the religious people were evil, that idea could have some validity. But that's just not how things shake out. I know too many cases of deeply religious people who are/were very good humans, and I could name some very famous and very bad humans who are/were not at all religious.

I think the basic problem is human nature, not religion. All humans are flawed and imperfect, and some are downright bad. Bad humans are gonna human badly whether they're religious or not.

Religion can be a powerful force, for good or for evil, but it's humans who decide how to channel that force and humans who actually DO good things or evil ones with it. Blaming bad things that humans do on religion is a vast oversimplification, imo. I realize that may not be a popular opinion on DU, but that's my view.

7. I was trying to say

That in reading this about Sikhs I was just taken by their actions of kindness.

And we have a sect of Christianity that does not follow Christ teachings I was raised Eastern Orthodox then later my parents split and my mother dragged us to Nazarene then southern baptist sect.
I wasn’t impressed I am leery of those particular groups cultish in belief yet I’m looking now at Unitarian church to check it out.
I believe in higher power i just don’t know in what we get is what Jesus was trying to teach us today from churches like southern baptist or Nazarenes.

Here's something to try for entertainment: next time you are talking with an evangelical magat (assuming that you actually would) just casually remark that Jesus was a socialist. When they vehemently object (which they will) then ask them: well, when he fed the hungry, how much did he charge them? or when he healed the sick, how much did he charge them?
