Sarah Huckabee Sanders Dismisses Climate Change in Favor of a Higher Authority
By Hemant Mehta, January 23, 2019
Heres why you want rational, science-oriented people in politics instead of religious people who think public policy ought to be dictated by their personal myths.
Earlier this week, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said in an on-stage interview that we needed to act on climate change before it was too late. She noted that the world is going to end in 12 years if we dont address climate change, referencing the tipping point after which scientists say itll be too late to address greenhouse gas emissions. Shes right about all that. And shes especially right to point that out when we have a government that rejects climate science in addition to ignoring science in general.
Case in point? Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the press secretary, who dismissed Ocasio-Cortezs statement with a reference to God during an interview last night with Sean Hannity.Look, I dont think were going to listen to her on much of anything, particularly not on matters were gonna leave in the hands of a much, much higher authority, and certainly not listen to the freshman congresswoman on when the world may end, she said. Were focused on whats happening in the world right now.
A woman who believes the Rapture will happen any second is ignoring the thing thats actually going to ruin our planet, all because Jesus said so
And how many religious moderates will give cover for this, saying she is merely wrong and that faith isn't the problem, something to the effect of "...this is merely faith gone awry."?
Faith is the problem!

After all, climate change is just Jesus's way to bring about the Rapture, which will suck up all the good Christians (them, of course) and leave the rest of us heathens to boil. As usual, they assume they will be fine and those bad people will suffer. Why worry?

Geologic time and evolution is the only chance to correct the problem.

will soon wipe itself out because it can't stop growing and eating up resources. In our case, it's only taken about 200 years.

Evennif it's just the good parts you want to defend, you are still giving people like Sanders here cover to operate how she is.
It's all connected.
