Rain in Oregon?
And keep your eyes open along the way for Gas Guzzling Griswolds in their wicked cah.

Props to WBUR! Grew up with WBUR.
Moved from MA to CA. Main disorientation:
From MA, there's nothing east.
From CA, there's nothing west.
Decades later, I still have to think about highway exits.
LAND to the east, WATER to the west.

(92,369 posts)North shore and that's how we always pronounced it.
Things change over time.
Out west, people think it's "ba'stin" which I regularly correct. There's a true Southie Irishman in town and when we see each other we immediately go into our native accents and entertain those around us. We always tell the audience that we're both from Beantown and he agrees that my phonetic spelling is correct. There are many cultural things that folks out this way don't understand about the eastern states.

(13,550 posts)Oh, well.
People kind of freak out when I tell them I watched Big Brother on TV.
