Forget the fact that the referees are their usual horrible, but the linesmen are atrocious.
FIFA has implemented this new technology were the offside line is represented by a simulated wall.
Linesmen refuse to call the most obvious offside. In the Argentina loss to Saudi Arabia 2-1, Argentina scored 3 maybe 4 goals, that during the celebration they finally called the offside. I'm not talking about tight offside, but obvious with the naked eye offside. Announcers are yelling Gooaaaalllll & I'm saying, "No it's not".
In one game, the announcers finally started complaining about the linesmen late offside calls, where they allow the play to proceed for about 20-30 yards where tackle challenges occur, that could risk injury.
Also the Video Assist Review (?) official can order the field referee to review a play, a minute after the play had resumed.
There was a play in the penalty area at one end, that the referee didn't deem a foul. They stood around for about 30 seconds, when the referee had not received any notice from the VAR official, that play was restarted. During that minute, the ball, moved across to the opposite end of the field, were it rolled out of bounds.
The VAR notified the referee to look at the replay, where a penalty shot was then awarded from the play in the penalty area that was not deemed a foul.
I believe that once play resumes, that all challenges on all previous plays are no long valid.
But nope, not in FIFA world.

(9,444 posts)What would have happened after the non-foul, if the other team scored a goal?
You take that way, even if it was scored legally?
They followed all the rules.

(9,444 posts)With all the flopping occurring throughout the game, I've come to believe that some players are bypassing legitimate scoring opportunities just to get a foul call.
I believe that an England player refused to go down and kept pushing the ball forward, although he was constantly checked, and almost scored a goal. Announcers mentioned that any of the checks could have been called a foul.

(661 posts)I sometimes just wish theyd get rid of VAR. Theres been ample time to work out the bugs, but the refs depend upon it too much and often let play continue, like you mentioned.
