VAR isn't exactly justifying itself today.

A ridiculous penalty awarded to Tunisia that VAR should have overturned, and a non-penalty decision when Kany was wrestled to the ground that VAR should have awarded. A far clearer decision than the Tunisian running into Kyle Walker's arm and throwing himself onto the turf anyway.

VAR fail!

Sweden did get a correct penalty earlier through VAR, but thus far it's been a mixed bag.

Watching it was just marginally less uncomfortable than chewing aluminium foil whilst rubbing ones head with a cheese grater....

Sterling proved once again that unless he's surrounded by stars he's nothing more than a mediocre to good forward.

Young demonstrated his ability to be a thug.

Pickford was very good in goal...much better than Joe Hart...

Overall I'd give England a 6.5 out of ten for their performance today.

They won, but if they really were a strong team the result against Tunisia should have been at least 3-0.

They got three points but they have a long way to go.

Belgium and Panama are much stronger foes than Tunisia.

Next match should see Rashford start instead of Sterling and surely theres a more creative player on the squad than Young..

I didn't catch all of the match, but what I saw didn't convince me that England are about to lift the world cup.

Boateng just shoved Sweden's Berg into Neuer, the German keeper. A clear and obvious penalty, and possibly even a red card. The referee isn't interested, and neither are the VAR team.

What's VAR for, if not exactly this situation? I really don't want to go there, but Germany going out of the tournament would be a disaster for FIFA, especially with Argentina and Brazil also looking uncertain.

The application of VAR appears to be so random as to create more controversy than it solves.
