France were terrible...

Australia played quite well and deserved at least a point, and would have had it, if it hadn't been for the VAR-gifted penalty.

It certainly wasn't a clear and obvious penalty to me and should never have been given.

Shame.

That's how flat and underwhelming France were. Ultimately superior French fitness and a bit of VAR decided the game.

First goal? Very very tight, marginal penalty decision. I can see how it might be overturned by VAR.

Second goal: Stonewall penalty for handball.

Third goal: About the only decent contribution from Paul Pogba all day, but in that instance I think VAR was of great benefit.

VAR is the future IMHO, but it's still got some room for improvement.
