5-1 and counting. The once impregnable Iker Casillas can't even field a bouncing ball apparently. And Robben is laying it on thick in every way possible, starting with two goals.

(6,261 posts)I may be alone in this, but I think the Spanish penalty was a dive by Costa too.
Who saw this coming? I knew Spain were vulnerable, but I never thought it would be the Dutch who would expose them.
It's hard to say which goal was the best. Very impressive.

Goal of the match imo was the first one; absolutely sick header by van Persie. Maybe that's what rattled Casillas but, as shaky as he was, if it wasn't that it would have been something else.

(961 posts)I agree. That was killer! Great cross, too.

(39,990 posts)I love watching Robben, as annoying as he can be. Controlling balls on the fly with his right foot and setting himself up for a shot; it's an art form.

(488 posts)Robben can be really, really fun to watch when he manages to stay upright on the pitch. I wish I had been able to watch him in this one!

(10,575 posts)GOAL! Spain 1 Holland 3 (De Vrij 64) What is going on here?! It's a goal out of nowhere as a free kick is swung into the back post by Sneijder. Van Persie appears to collide with Casillas as a bunch of players throw themselves at the ball at the back post. One of those is De Vrij who scrambles the ball over the line. he seems to had it against his own knee, it comes back off the post and hits his foot and trickles over the line. Casillas isn't happy - he is certain he was fouled by Van Persie - and he gets booked for his complaints.

(6,384 posts)Australia faces The Netherlands on Tuesday my daughter and I are debating whether we should go to bed early on Tuesday night and get up at 2.00 a.m. our time to watch Australia get thrashed. We probably will, because they'll most likely be out after this first round.
But maybe we have a chance against Spain? We know were at the bottom of the rankings, but the team have guts. They went down 3-1 against Chile, but they made Chile work for it.
