I grew up in NE Oklahoma and never saw beavers around here. (I'm older than dirt)
My 8 acres is mostly creek bottom, dries up every year until now.

(38,121 posts)What industrious creatures! We were fortunate enough to see one out hiking one day. We spied a branch type dam in the creek & thought we'd linger for a spell & sure enough, the little guy showed up.

(13,693 posts)I live on a river bank.
They took down the neighbor's three yearling birch trees. He should have put wire mesh around the lower parts.
This week, we have sea lion feeding, and sea gulls raising a ruckus to grab a bite of the fish. 100 miles from the ocean!

(34,349 posts)my big pond it was gang busters. I have to live trap them and move them to an area that accepts them. They were digging through my dam and since that is the driveway into my place we kinda had to do it. Then they moved to the other dam between the big pond and a little pond and....on and on every year for about 5 years now? It will probably stop, it seems to cycle around here. They are awesome creatures and I love having them around but they need to move on to the other ponds so their work will not take out my way into the farm!
