Intact removal is a good idea- if you have the equipment handy. It does not prevent infection. It might lower the risk. As soon as a tick has gotten into your skin there is risk of infection.
In my opinion get that little fucker off you asap using whatever tools are immediately available. And wash all areas that contacted the creep.
