Ordered a new motherboard because mine bit the dust ( From New Egg)

I have probably spent, over the years $30,000 with New Egg building computers for myself, for clients, and for business.

I am, to put it mildly, incensed.

It took forever to get here, and I'm pissed that my Hyper 212 cooler won't fit unless I move the RAM to slots 2 and 4. I have RipJaws with factory heat sinks.

Who on God's green earth designs a motherboard for two video cards that can't accommodate heatsinks on the RAM modules!?

I'll find a way to make it work, but frankly, Newegg has finally, utterly and totally lost my business.

1. Don't blame Newegg, blame Asus or MSI or whoever the motherboard manufacturer is

my Corsair Vengeance RAM wouldn't fit on my Asus board with a Hyper 212 Evo in slots 1 and 3, either.

2. Asus - I've never had good luck with their products.

MSI and Gigabyte have always been great.

I've had a Gigabyte mobo in my rig for 3 years now and still going. It's a terrific mobo.

Hey, you've got experience, quick question...

Is upgrading my CPU just as simple as buying a new one and swapping them? I can't imagine that I'd need drivers.

4. I've always found Gigabyte to be of superior build.

ASUS tends to be a little loose with the spec and material.

The reason I am upset with Newegg is that they advertised this as a Socket 1150 compatible.

I need to build a box up, and I'm financially constrained at present.

I'm in no way ready to pitch my i5 2500K chip, because it is phenomenal.

5. It has nothing to do with drivers or OS

You must match your processor with the socket type the motherboard makes available.

I can't say what you upgrade to without knowing what CPU and socket layout you have.

8. I'm running WD Raptors at 10,000 rpm err, I was. :(

in Raid 10+1.

I was beta testing some software the I did not realize inadvertently, due to flaws, started poling elements and making calls off the dang charts, and it cooked my video card.

Fried box for my troubles.

9. It can be a fantastic boost

if you configure one additionally under the Z chipsets that support it!

It depends on the amount of RAM, processor speed, memory and HD speed as to the benefit you get.
