So, I just finished Bioshock Infinite. On Hard mode! Yay!

Why can't more games be like this? Why can't more titles take themselves this seriously, and have this 'mature' a feel and presentation?

The story... my god, the story! No other game has ever held my attention to the plot and sucked me right into the world presented within as this one did. It's easily, easily a cinema-quality tale, with laughter, sadness, hope, fear, and all the sorts of characters that make a story worth telling, and worth listening to. And Elizabeth is the best game sidekick/companion ever, and.... and.... and.... etc., & etc., honorifics and praise, with bells on....

I have to say, Ken Levine is a genius. This is, without a doubt in my mind, the best total package I've ever seen from any game ever.

If you have a PC powerful enough to play this at anything resembling a quality experience, even if you have to dial it back to like 1366x768 in fullscreen/windowed to get the highest quality visuals... do yourself a favor and get this title. DON'T play it on a console, for the love of all that is decent and holy, not unless you have no other option. You'll miss the polish and detail that sets this one a notch above the rest.

But PLAY IT! However you have to, play Bioshock Infinite. It's just THAT good.

I just finished it last night, not on difficult, but I l-o-v-e this game. Brilliant in so many ways. Beautiful, too. I would fall asleep every night thinking about the amazing story! I am going to get the first Bioshock game this week, but I definitely will play thru Infinite again!

and the Category 5 Lightening Strike that killed my XBOX (along with a lot of other gear in our rural cabin),
has convinced me.

In prep, I am attempting to download BioShock 1 & 2 onto a PC that should be able to handle them.
After running through those, I will see if I have enough horsepower to take on BioShock3 on the PC.

Is that the same people who made 1/2Life so many years ago,
and is it necessary to have an account and a connection to Steam to play Bioshock?

4. Valve. Yep, same people. The Bioshock series is a different studio,

but they're publishing Infinite on Steam. You do need Steam on the PC to play it, but it's actually gaming crack in the form of software, so you'll be happy with it. Plenty of demos and freebies, and the sales are frequent and oh so tempting. Steam is now also on linux if you use that OS, and you don't have to repurchase any of your Windows games when they're released on linux. Aren't they nice?

As for system requirements, I have an AMD Phenom 2 Black CPU, 8Gb of Corsair RAM, and a NV GTX 560 running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, and I was able to max out the quality, including the special DX11 shaders and alternate post processing method, and run the game at a consistent 60fps at 1366x768 (1920x1080 was a little choppy on my rig at max quality).

Play it on the biggest screen you can use. It's totally dazzling on a 50" TV

That looks very doable.
I found my old Steam Account from 1/2Life, and was able to logon with my old name and password. I was surprised that account was still active.

I'm going to do BioShock 1 & 2, and maybe the price of 3 will drop before I get there.
