Tons of loot versus tons of upgrades!

Which of these would you rather have in a game: a game with tons of loot, such as Borderlands, or a game with tons of character upgrades, such as Skyrim.

sometimes there is just too much of it and it's a full time gaming job to keep track of what is best to equip when they drop out of the sky every 2 seconds.
