Pete Carrol should call it a career after Raiders fire him

He’s one of the great coaches of our time, winning both the Super Bowl and the NCAA national championship.
But everyone gets old, and Father Time has caught up with Pete.
Thanks for all the great teams, Pete. Now please enjoy your retirement.

About Andy Reid. And throw in Belechick for the trifecta. I’m an old guy. I retired. A younger guy took my place. It’s evolution.

Now, Pete, what did you mean when you said you'll pay us to coach here?

I'm a Seahawks season ticket holder for those who don't know already. When Paul Allen hired Pete, I was surprised at his laid-back demeanor.

Aside from winning Superbowl 48 one of the most memorable things about Pete was a talk he gave on race relations during Trump's first term. Sadly I can't find a video of it.

Despite the fact that I’m a big 49er fan and Hawks hater. I’m also a big fan and past season ticket holder for Stanford football, which means I hate USC. Even though Pete caused my teams much grief during his time coaching rival teams, I still love the man for who he is as a person and respect his accomplishments.

All I meant to say in my OP was that Pete’s time is over. The Seahawks were a very mediocre team during his couple years, which is probably why he was let go. And the Raiders didn’t improve at all the season, which supports my opinion that he should spend the rest of his enjoying a well earned retirement after a magnificent coaching career.

7. The Seahawks tend to replace players and coaches at just the right time

They have always been in contention or close to .500 or above no matter who they had at coach and quarterback. They tend to get rid of players even really great players right before their time is up. They really have no loyalty as an organization but at the end of the day they're judged by wins and losses and Seahawks are consistent meaning they haven't gone through any rebuilding phases since hiring Carroll.

I'm not sure many coaches could have done well with a Geno Smith that regressed to the Jets Geno Smith. Also their best players are a young TE and a rookie RB. They could be good in the future with the right QB and a good coach but agree it is probably best for Carroll if he retires.

Had the Niners not had so many injuries to key players this year, it might have been a different story last Saturday. But injuries are a part of the game, so I’m not complaining. When the Niners end their playoff run, which is likely against the Eagles, I’ll be pulling for the Seahawks to go all the way this year.

The great job the Raiders did pulling the scab off the Chiefs season. Some people might have enjoyed the hell out of that. Great job Pete. Now enjoy yourself.
