Giant Hummingbird (Patagona gigas)





The Giant Hummingbird or Colibrí Gigante or Picaflor Gigante (Patagona gigas) is the biggest bird ever of the hummingbird species. This bird weighs in at 18-24 g (0.63-0.85 oz) and has a wingspan of approximately 21.5 cm (8.5 in) and length of 23 cm (9.1 in). Its territory is widespread through both sides of the Andes Mountains from southern Colombia down to Argentina and Chile. This slow motion video was filmed in Peru in Ollantaytambo and at Ensifera Camp in Urubamba.
