Osprey Live Stream 🎦 Naples, FL (Harry and Sally)

Last edited Thu Mar 30, 2023, 06:45 AM - Edit history (2)

HARRY & SALLY:
Based on our observations, this is the 4th year for Harry and Sally to raise
a family in Moorings Park, Naples, FL. At 6 years of age, they both are very
experienced parents, Harry a good fisherman and Sally a very caring and
cautious Mom. The average life expectancy for ospreys is 7-10 years

THE CAMERAS:
Two cameras, one of which is a spare, are positioned at 46 feet elevation,
angled 40 degrees downward into the nest. An ambiance camera is
positioned on top of an 8 story residential tower, 145 feet from the nest. It
will be used again once the chicks start to fledge to provide a larger aerial
view. We have developed a Picture in Picture system to show actions with
both cameras simultaneously.

but they are just showing what looks like a cleared-off nest platform, and they also switch to an expansive view of the waterway. They also show highlights from last season. It seems those Osprey had a nest failure, so it may be why there is a cleared platform with no nesting material (?)

3. These chicks are hard to watch, the aggressor chick appears to be giving the younger one concussions

Victor (the chick) has some fishing line wrapped around his right(?) leg. We are awaiting bird rehab org arrival onsite to remove that line from his leg and any more in the nest.

Moorings Park management have lined up a 60 foot man lift with flotation tires for Thursday morning sometime between 7 and 9 AM. The Country Club of Naples has granted us access thru their property.

...to free the nestling from the fishing line it’s entangled with.Unfortunately, this is the earliest this highly specialized equipment

6. It seems that the chick's leg is free of the fishing line, but line is still buried within the nest
