1. I entered the Sports Illustrated contest to call #716 and had the game and pitcher right. That wasn't all that hard.

A lot of people probably had that. A month or so out, I just ran the numbers. How many he had to that point told me when he should get it. That day had them playing the Dodgers. The Dodger rotation had Downing on the mound if nothing went wrong. I nailed it but not the inning. World Series tickets on the line. You may have had to have had the count too, I can't remember that.

6. Dusty Baker was kneeling in the on-deck circle for #715

I suspect he was there for #716, too.

Hank Aaron totally kept his promise to Dusty's mother to keep him on the straight path; Hank mentored Dusty, became roommates, and genuine lifelong friends.

7. Hank is a good man. It was remarkable that a few weeks out, he kept on exactly the pace and hit that dinger just when

the numbers said he would. No rainouts or anything that would screw up the Dodger rotation. I missed it. Got home from a baseball practice right after it happened. My dad saw it though.

4. Different players, different eras

but when looking at those RBI totals, I think it's relevant to consider the number of games played. Albert Pujols only finished 79 RBI behind Aaron but he played 218 fewer games.

And the spread was even wider with Babe Ruth. He played only 2,503 games compared to Aaron's 3,298. And yet Ruth was only 83 RBI behind Homerin' Hank.

5. Thing That Stood Out To Me On The List

There's only one other name on that list with under 20 years, & that's Williams
So Lou is still 7th on the list with FAR fewer plate appearances.
Henry got an RBI for each slightly over 6 PA.
Lou got one for each slightly under FIVE PA.
His disease cost him 3 years at least. Good chance he'd still be RBI king 80+ years later, if not for ALS.
