Hockey - Circa 1959

On this date 01 November 1959, Canadiens player Jacques Plante became the first NHL goalie to regularly use face protection. I’m kinda thinking that was a pretty good decision.

Which begs the question why women lacrosse players don't wear helmet/masks, when the men do.
Players are swinging sticks! How can there not be concussion risks?
In women's softball, pitchers wear face guards, while male baseball players don't, but somehow women playing lacrosse are less protected?
