DENVER (AP) Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic earned a second straight NBA Most Valuable Player trophy Wednesday to become the second consecutive international player to win two in a row.
The 27-year-old from Sombor, Serbia, averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists to take home MVP honors. Milwaukees Giannis Antetokounmpo who hails from Greece earned the title in 2019 and 2020.
International players finished 1-2-3 in this years MVP voting. Philadelphias Joel Embiid, who led the league in scoring average, finished runner-up and Antetokounmpo was third. Devin Booker of Phoenix wound up fourth.

Im good with the order of the first 3. Missing Murray & Porter, Denver would be a lottery team without Jokich. That may be true of the Sixers without Embiid, too.

(29,348 posts)Personally Id rather have Booker and Paul than those centers but Luka is really a MVP for the Mavericks.

He's 3rd all time in playoff points before age 23. He's behind Wilt & Michael. Pretty good company.
Booker has a slightly higher effective shooting percentage, but Luka has better stats in every othed category.
Booker has one less turnover per game, but in 1 fewer minute & he has the ball less often.
Devin is a scary scorer, but Luka is a game changer & he's younger.
One thing i like is him saying he's never starting a season out of shape again. Learned fast.
