Kamila Valieva: "I accidentally took my grandfather's medication."

Jesus on a stick, that is rich.

There is no honor.

Anyway, I am glad that Kaori Sakamoto of Japan is in third place after the short program.

I woke early this morning and watch most of the short program on Peacock. So many of these woman skaters are so elegant and artistic, it is a pity they don't have a chance.

on edit: It gets even weirder. The claim at the Arbitration hearing was that she shared a glass of water with her grandfather, who took the medication. Wait, I thought her coach didn't allow her to drink water.

Gee, but they have Grandpa's name on them. Maybe I should just leave them alone.

Nah. Let's take one and see what happens. What could go wrong?

Richardson should have been running in the Olympics. This girl is just another Russian cheater - they should be banned from the games for at least a decade.

Be awarded the medal until an investigation is complete. The team medals have not been awarded because of this. I was already livid that this person who broke the rules was allow to participate with an unfair advantage. The story is ridiculous. Does she think telling people she randomly took pills from an old man is better than admitting she doped and got caught. Her country shouldn’t be at these games to begin with.

She's 15.
Who procured this for her?
Who told her to use this excuse?
Who is she protecting?
Who has complete control over her career?

Coach.
The girl is a victim.

One pill isn't going to show on any test unless perhaps it's done the same day. Ridiculous BS. Since Russia cannot stop doping their athletes they should just not compete in the Olympics. Period. Not the athletes fault but still ... fairness? Not really when one is not allowed to compete because of cannabis (not harmful and certainly not going to enhance performance) and another is allowed having taken a banned substance. Weird that.
