I'm watching an electrifying archery match(?) between the US and France. It looks like there is a tripod hanging off of the archers bows. What is that about?

(501 posts)They increase the mass and rotational inertia of the bow, so that it resists twisting and torquing during the draw, hold, and release. The bow becomes a more solid platform to provide consistency for the archers' shots.

(10,097 posts)to that at the release point. I have a old compound bow; its draw weight is 65#, but its hold weight, at full draw, is 30#.
