The Big 12 wants to crack down on taunting this college football season, and that includes the Horns Down gesture teams love to make when they're beating the University of Texas.
The symbol has been a sore spot for Texas fans and Big 12 officials alike as it has been flagged as unsportsmanlike conduct at times - including twice against West Virginia in a 2018 game in Austin - and completely ignored at others.
At Big 12 Media Days on Thursday, the conference's director of officials Greg Burks tried to put a point on how it will be called this season.
If you do a Horns Down to a Texas player as an opponent, thats probably going to be a foul, Burks said. If you turn to the crowd and do a Horns Down
it will probably not be a foul.

(6,340 posts)We didn't invent the Horns Down gesture -- it's apparently something started by the folks from Oklahoma.
But only West Virginia seems to get penalized for it.
Twice.
In one game.
We won anyway.
