Approximately She

"What a fine example of young American manhood!"
older brother says to all
curious ears tittering in courtroom l05;
Christy glares in the spotlight
at his hateful brother, with his family
gathered for his freedom's funeral,
His litany of misdeeds already recounted
in hideous detail, by a hairy fairy
wearing conformity's suit and tie money;
And judge no-nonsense disposition,
shaking his old bald head on his pedestal,
looking at the fine example's
rather wilted elegance tattered
by being thrown in Goddamn jail!
His blouse and clinging blue jeans creation,
lovingly assembled to the Oohs and Ahs
and help of Girls Getting Ready,
in the room he shared with them,
Now kinda tawdry resurrected
from the ashes of jail
issued two days ago,
but what's a girl to do?
Christy's glare softens as he catches
his mother's tears sparkling
on her loving face,
And his father's stern efforts
dealing with the shame of it all;
While little Ellen, totally indifferent
to all that junk
Smiles and waves and blows pretty kisses
at her brother pretty
like a peacock
caught in a mousetrap
with ambition,
And Judge Wrath, moved with sorrow
for the family of the fine example,
Nevertheless pronounces his sentence:
ninety days for sex for money!
Christy pales and faints
with great difficulty in the crowded dock,
then recovers to give vent
to his deepest thoughts,
By screaming a primal piercing scream
as the Blue Bullies grab him
and drag him out to his doom,
His scream, like a bell stuck in ring,
fades in the frozen courtroom tableau;
shocked stillness, disturbed at first
just a little
Then growing into out and out
laughter
as everyone
Including family, stranger, and Judge,
consider how perfectly
she played her role
In this earth shaking disaster!
