4. "Bad Monkey" by Carl Haaisen

Enthusiast was reading it last month, and I hadn't realized there was a new book out. So I had to get to the library and get it.

10. I got it yesterday; already half-way through it.

Hiaasen writes the same novel, over and over again. Luckily, it's always a hilarious story, in which the politics and assorted oddities of Florida are dealt with in unsparing fashion. Recommended.

11. Yep, it was a quick read.

He does have a formula that he sticks to...insane situations, environmental issues, bad guys who destroy the beauty of Florida and are dumber than a box of rocks. But I always get a laugh out of it. The only thing that he dropped from his formula is Skink, and I really miss him.

5. _A Devil is Waiting_ by Jack Higgins

Sean Dillon and gang add a new member and are called upon security-wise for a Presidential visit to London. At least that's it so far--I'm sure it will go downhill real soon now and they'll be called upon to keep the world from, well, exploding. Or imploding. Or devolving into chaos. Or something.

It's number 19 in the series, similar to the others and fun. I'm thinking that they'd make a better TV series than movie ever.

9. I read The Khufra Run a couple years ago, and enjoyed it.

Have been trying to get into East of Desolation, but can never seem to get hooked into the story. Will try it again, lol.

7. The Orchardist

By Amanda Coplin.

12. I really enjoyed the book. You? My book group is going to

be reading it in October. I thought it was a remarkable for a debut novel. Amanda Coplin's characters were very well developed and the book was well-paced. I liked the people in this book, and I loved one.

13. I liked it

But didn't love it. It seemed so sad at times. I really wanted the characters to find some happiness in their lives. Maybe Angeline did eventually.

It reminded me a bit of Plainsong by Kent Haruf but sadder.

I'll definitely read any other books she writes.

8. Amazonia, by James Rollins.

It's fun, but nothing really new.

14. Mickey spillane, vol.2

This includes Kiss me Deadly. I've not read it yet, but it was made into one of the best noir detective films ever.
