I'm trying to make it through "Chasing Midnight" and I don't think I'm going to make it.
His last few books have been pretty weak (IMHO), but this one.......wow, a real struggle.

(1,534 posts)His is one of the series I was hoping to start soon. (They're all too expensive on kindle, so I was waiting 'til I get near a library or used bookstore again.)

(10,044 posts)When my dau moved back in and wanted books to read, didn't know how advanced and great libraries had become since I was in high school, and I was shy about using them (looking like a cheapskate). Anyway, tried ebay and got several boxes of books for practically nothing, myseries and romances... I happened to be there for something else and saw this:

(12,051 posts)a minimal movie script about two commandos shooting up an island. I have always enjoyed the marine biology, the descriptions of Florida (I'm a FL native), the relationships that Doc Ford has, the inner musings he does, etc., and this last book (and the one before it, too) has ditched those aspects that I really enjoyed. I do think it must be hard to keep coming up with stories, but heck, Florida is weird enough that it shouldn't be THAT hard.
Frankly, his editor should have seen what was going on, refused to publish this one, and given him some time to come up with another idea.
