(10,252 posts)Diagnosed about 6 years ago. At that time, my heart was racing as tho I was running a marathon. Eventually I've had several hospitalizations, shocked my heart several times, and had an abrasion. I'm on meds to control it now. I'm 76, and my family has a history of heart problems.

(33,957 posts)The other has me on meds for it.
Thinking about a third opinion now. I hate the meds and have got them lowered, but still get dizzy when I get up. Did have a pacemaker installed because my pulse dropped to 26 bpm.
Pacemaker is set at 60 bpm and would like to Jack it up a little to see if that helps.
Both docs agree that I keep jogging 3 or 4 days a week.
Best of luck

(16,953 posts)69 years old, in pretty good health otherwise. Had a pacemaker installed immediately, as I had briefly blacked out. Also had hyperthyroidism which made things more interesting. Fun times. Got the thyroid straightened out, and had an ablation a week and a half ago. Feel MUCH better now. Heart rate is more normal, I have energy and mental clarity again. Always thought it was the meds which I'm still on for a while, but it was the afib.
