Related: About this forumRetired last March so this is my first time to file income tax
I have 2 months wages, 10 months SS and pension. I have always filed my on tax forms but I'm not sure what forms I need to file. I usually file 1040 long form because I have to claim a small amount of farm income and royalties. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

One is to determine the taxable part of your SS. The other is to determine the taxable part of your pension. (With luck. it will 0% or close for SS, because you only received two months' wages.)
I think both of those worksheets are contained in the big instruction book. The IRS used to send those out in printed form, but now you'll need to download it from the IRS Web site.

(3,595 posts)There doesn't seem to be much in the way of complicated income to worry about.
The next year, you can use the online program as a template to do your own.

(18,219 posts)It is usually just for rather simple returns, but you might be able to get help from them if they do that around you. Check senior centers or maybe the AARP website to see if they do that there.
