I was talking to an old friend

Our friends parents would get a box of 'real Florida citrus' in winter in the 60s& early 70s.

We would eat oranges, a fresh fruit in snowy times!

My Mom made broiled grapefruit on Sundays, we were living fancy and high that day.

Good memories

With a little brown sugar. We felt very fancy with that on a Sunday, too. I am going to put grapefruit on my shopping list right now. Thanks!

I'm guessing the alcohol in the sherry evaporated before us children became alcoholics.

(Didn't matter in my case....)

I know it has strong interactions with some - in my case blood thinners.

Would travel from Cape Cod to Tampa in winter to see my aunt and her family. They always sent us one of those crates of citrus, we were a big family, for the holiday. Indian River, never forgot it.

Early 60s.

"orange greening" disease and a few other factors orange production is down over 80% from peak. Walking into the In the Sam's Club in Riverview you are greeted by boxes of "California Oranges."
