Received unexpected extra pmt from SS ???

My bank account show a deposit coming in on Oct 15 from SS of $90.

I am assuming it is because I went back to work as a substitute a couple of years ago, and my annual paltry earnings for one of the years replaced a 0 year in my social security lifetime earnings record.

Does anyone else have experience with this? Is it a one-time payment, or a monthly raise?

Thanks in advance!

Several months ago I received a one time lump sum and was informed in a letter that it was because of additional work credits not included earlier. My monthly amount went up as well.

Is the back payment for any specific period of time? Any idea how much my monthly will go up based on this little boost? every little bit helps.

Thanks.

SS does a recalculation of benefits if you have worked during the previous year while receiving SS. I should be getting my notice of an increase shortly to coincide with my monthly payment, which will be this Wednesday. What I get is back pay from January, and then that monthly increase stays until the January COLA increase.
