My "new" DD-214 is received, downloaded, scanned, printed.

I'm taking no chances. It didn't take long, at all. It sure looks different..

Now I'm going to set up an appointment with our Secretary of State office to get an 'enhanced' license with a veteran insignia. There are all kinds of veteran's discounts, out there that I'll be utilizing.

Just curious.

Unless you just like carrying one card instead of two.

Your choice.

To my knowledge there is no such thing as a veteran's ID card. Active military have an ID card and retired have one, but veterans who separated before retirement get their DD214. Michigan putting that on the drivers license is a great idea, when mine comes up for renewal, I'm going to see if OH has something similar.

You’ll need to create an account, but their app even suffices as an ID. It will list your service and discharge dates and any disability rating you have.

How to apply for a Veteran ID Card

A Veteran ID Card (VIC) is a digital form of photo ID you can use to get discounts offered to Veterans at many restaurants, hotels, stores, and other businesses. Find out if you’re eligible for a Veteran ID Card—and how to apply.

You can apply online now.

Note: As of September 2022, all new Veteran ID Cards are digital. If you already have a physical Veteran ID Card, you can continue using it to get discounts.
(what the heck? Only digital?)

It wouldn't accept a single photo I took and they were CLEAR as can be.

I gave up.

Recently, not VERY recently, I was told that you could apply at a VA regional office.
That may have changed.

Good luck however you manage. The process for the state designation is apparently sufficiently rigorous that the ID is accepted all over.

4. May I suggest Lowes

Both Home Depot and Lowes give a 10% vet discount. The difference I found was Lowes uses a third party verification that cross checks specific information you enter and sets up your account. Home Depot wanted an upload of my DD 214 which is something I did not want to do. It's just as well, I stopped using Home Depot a few years ago anyway, major RW shareholder.

You should be eligible for the National Parks pass, and here in Florida I got a State Parks pass and a county pass.

Even though I don't use VA medical, I did get a card mainly for status verification should I ever need it.

I scanned my 214 to phone, went to get my DL renewed,
showed them my phone. Instant, Vet DL, and plates.
Yeah , the numbers 214, are very important to Vets
