.. after the Roberts Supreme Court, ALEC is perhaps the greatest challenge to our Democracy (as a system of government for, by and of the people rather than corporate lords and psycho-billionaires). Because the threat that ALEC represents to our democracy is so great, it's impossible to overestimate the importance of Moyers' continuing reporting on it.

(71 posts)Anybody with that magical combination of a conscious, honesty, and the information to act on it holds Bill Moyers to the highest degree of human importance: Indeed, this is the exaltation the honest and true alone place in the same inner circle of their own monolithic achievements.
Bill Moyers doesn't need an award - we can both agree that the media awards need Bill Moyers.

heh, yeah it's true, I lost all respect for Charlie Rose after I saw how he handled the famous Noam Chomsky interview (especially towards the end, it's on youtube), his ignorance of the workings of the media when he interviewed Amy Goodman was also pretty embarassing; but at least he gave Naomi Klein and Chris Hedges a decent group interview iirc. None of this wasn't to be expected of course, it's all very comfortably within the confines of the Propaganda Model ( http://www.chomsky.info/onchomsky/2002----.htm ), though it's painful everytime you have to see press-titues in action (I learned this fun word today actually..)
Good to hear him praising Moyers, I'll have to watch the interview.

(6,436 posts)as hell that he would recognize - publicly - Moyers professionalism and merit. I didn't think Rose had any conception of what those qualities were in the context of genuine journalism. --- but of course, he could have been told to say that to maintain some verisimilitude to his affectation of a legitimate journalist.
BTW: "presstitutes" ... "....fun word"...LOL. I love it!

(71 posts)I'm always surprised as well who Charlie Rose recognizes considering that I find him rather on the establishment propagandistic side as well. There was an interview with Naomi Klein and Chris Hedges (at the same time) that was actually remarkably respectful.
