Related: About this forumFusion picks up The Young Turks show
Politico
The Young Turks is coming to cable TV, with a one-hour weekly show on Fusion.
The show will start in September and run for 12 weeks until the election. It will be hosted by "TYT" hosts Ana Kasparian and Jon Iadarola and will be taped in front of a live audience at college campuses around the country. TYT founder Cenk Uygur, as well as celebrity guest hosts and participants will join in throughout the series.
Fusions goal is to continue elevating the issues that matter to this diverse, emerging generation of young people. The Young Turks and their distinct, passionate voices will be a valuable addition to our coverage of this unconventional and consequential election cycle, Daniel Eilemberg, Co-President and Chief Content Officer for Fusion said in a statement. We are excited to hit the road this fall to engage college students from across the country, providing them with a platform to make their voices heard.
The Young Turks network is one of the largest online video news channels, with a liberal and progressive bent and more than 200 million views a month on YouTube, often beating traditional cable news outlets on the platform.
Its website hawks pro-Bernie Sanders shirts and Uygur has been known as an activist host, getting arrested last month at the Capitol as part of Democracy Spring, a demonstration against corruption and money in politics. Uygur briefly hosted a show on MSNBC before going to the now defunct Current TV, hosting a show and serving as chief news officer until 2013 when the channel was sold to Al Jazeera.
