Former NBCUniversal boss comes to the defense of Brian Williams

...

Wright, who was in charge when Williams was hired from CBS and began a news show for sister network MSNBC in the ’90s, said, “Some of this puffing up (exaggeration) is accurate, but Brian Williams has helped NBC News. He has been the strongest supporter of the military of any of the news players. He never comes back with negative stories, he wouldn’t question if we’re spending too much. All the stories are very accurate. It’s ironic the military people are complaining. These were the people he held in high esteem.

Insiders also said Williams has operated unchecked since a purge of several veteran editors that came with Comcast’s 2011 purchase of NBC.

“There are few people who talk to Brian in an authoritative way,” a former news manager told the Washington Post. “There really wasn’t anyone over him to say anything to him or to question his facts.”

What's your point, Mr. Wright?

Therein lies the problem. Mr. Williams, his employer and colleagues in the so-called "news" media world could all be described the way you just described Williams. They have treated the Iraq invasion and the military actions in other countries that have followed as though they're some glorious sporting event where the U.S. is the good guys and only doing what's right. You clowns in the MSM have never drilled down into the lies, deception and motivating forces behind these wars the U.S. has engaged in. Maybe in about 40 years, you clowns will have your phony mea culpas about all of this, like we've been recently seeing regarding Vietnam, but I ain't buying it.

You MSM clowns never make the connection in how all of this insane spending in the military has cost lives and investment in this country's infrastructure. No, you'd rather rah-rah this country into more wars and more deaths. Or, spend some inordinate amounts of time showing some celebrity clown show like the Kardashians.

Like I've said, follow the money. There's money to be made in wars and being complicit in them. Plus, NBC is owned by General Electric, the world's largest defense contractor.

And you idiots wonder why viewership in network news has fallen like a rock over the years.
