Did I stand up for intolerance by making an intolerant statement?

If so I apologize...but dammit...I'm pissed off at the blind stupidity of some elected officials who call themselves Democrats.

Here's the email I sent to Emmett Burns, Jr.
emmett.burns@house.state.md.us

"You are an embarrassment to the Democratic Party in particular and to the United States of America in general. I'm ashamed to see your name listed as a member of my party.

You of all people should know the importance of equality for all. Where would you be today if it weren't for those people who stood up against bigotry and hatred and intolerance? I'll tell you, Mr. Burns...you'd still be picking cotton on some South Carolina plantation.

If you're going to think like a Republican then the least you can do is man up and leave the Democratic Party."

“It's an universal law-- intolerance is the first sign of an inadequate education. An ill-educated person behaves with arrogant impatience, whereas truly profound education breeds humility.”
― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn

Maybe I shouldn't have made the plantation reference, but dammit...it's true.
