Related: About this forumQuite the surprise, this morning
To set the scene, a few weeks ago a mama cat and 3 kittens showed up in the side garden. All were VERY feral and here was no way I could even approach them, although I tried. The kittens were maybe about 3 or 4weeks old. I don't really remember what the others looks like but there was one Tuxedo with the most impressive set of white whiskers . They were here for a few days and then disappeared.
This morning when I went out to feed the outdoor kidcats, this little guy came RUNNING up to me. It's the same kitten and he couldn't be friendlier!! He seems to remember me because he ran up and climbed straight up my leg, wanting to be cuddled. I even got a few soft meows. Maybe someone found and took him in but he wandered off.
I'm going to put a post on the Genesee Valley 'Nextdoor' site, just to make sure someone isn't out looking for him.

Had about 30 minutes of kitty time with the neighbor's cat (Mikey's unrequited love interest) and her last remaining baby. Baby is female and a grey calico manx, her mom is a calico/Siamese manx. Both are sweet and playful so I had fun playing with them while visiting. So entertaining, had us laughing a lot.
Later last night I was getting ready for bed and had the window open but wasn't at the window and suddenly I heard some weird noise like a deer was attacking the side of the house or something! When I went to the window there was the mom cat looking in and hanging from the sill outside! She hasn't been out since the babies were born. Now that she's spayed she can go out but she doesn't stay out long. She often comes to my porch to observe her domain, sometimes the lays on top of my car like it's her throne. I keep a bowl of water on the porch for her so she can enjoy her drink in a sheltered place. A couple times she's come into the house when the door is open for a breeze, she seems to be still looking for Mikey. I wonder when they said through telepathy all those hours that they looked at each other through the window.
Then a mini hurricane attacked our hillside and I was glad to know, because I called the neighbor about it to have a good laugh, that she was back inside when the storm hit. Not much lightning but horrible wind and heavy rain, I got up and waited for the wind to die down before I got back in bed. Never know if you might have to evacuate the building sometimes so being up and dressed is wise, I think.
Hope all goes well and a happy reunion with someone who cares for the baby comes around quickly.

(10,295 posts)little toe. Her picture is my user ID photo. She was a free spirit. I never knew where I would find her--up a tree, on the roof, she was full of surprises. I miss her, too.
