When It Rains...

Yesterday, we had to put our other kitty down.
She was nearly 20, and in the last couple weeks she could barely get around.
Tuesday, she NEVER left the pillow on the bed. Not once.
She was no longer happy & content, but creepy & hurting.
This is 2 pets since mid-April.
My wife has had cats around since she's been a baby, so she's a bit down over not having any around.
Looking at a shelter in the next county over. They're supposed to call me tomorrow.
Vincent went up to the kitchen, dining room & bedroom today. I think he was looking for his sister.

together are extra hard. You did the kindest thing you could, with her suffering. I believe she's young and healthy again on the other side and you will see her again, and I hope she'll find a way to assure you of that.

my girl kitty would stand and cry at any closed door, including closets, and wouldn't stop until I opened it and she knew he wasn't trapped behind it. She did that for a couple of years. Cats grieve, so give your kitty some extra everything.

8. May a suitable successor be waiting at that shelter.

I know some people need or prefer to wait to add a new furry family member after a loss. I have almost always gone looking right away. I never look at a new cat as a replacement, but as a successor, and it helps, at least it does for me, because it gives the love I had for the departed cat somewhere to settle instead of just floating around with nowhere to attach.

There's always someone who needs you.
