well, i got a text from my ex last night that i've been dreading.

time is short for dr doom, 1 of the best dogs ever. a 100lb bundle of love. he wouldnt get up for food or water.
he was supposed to b his dog, but u know dogs. he didnt know that. but through some convoluted circumstances, he ended up w him. i’m not mad about that. he ended up having a great dog life. living in mich, on a lake, w a boat dock to jump off.
after the split, i bought him a pair of bionic hips. i got stuck w the tab, that we were supposed to split. but it’s all good. he’s a great dog who deserved the best.
he’s 12 1/2, and up until recently was doing well.
it hits harder cuz biff is his half brother and only 6 mos younger. he’s high on the list of the best dogs i’ve had. even tho i havent seen him in years, i’ll miss him.
sure do wish i cd see him 1 more time, tho.

..my grand dog. A little rat terrier x rescued from the streets of Kentucky, shipped to a shelter in Tennessee where my dtrs family rescued him then a 5 day road to Seattle when they moved back west. My dtr married again to a guy with allergies so little Vinnie came to live with me. Hes about 14 now and i thought I was going to lose him last night. I was dreading that text I was going to have to send to my ex son in law as he was so close to him..and to my grand dtrs

He ate this morning which is some improvement.

Thank you for sharing dr dooms story with us. Let us know how he is doing. (((hugs)))

he was more her dog than his. i didnt rly lose him in the divorce, tho he asked for him in his initial filing.
i gave him too her, cuz i hated her bf, and knew he wd keep her safe. but after they broke up, she couldnt keep him.
it’s gonna hit her HARD.

6. Epitaph to a Dog

Mar 2024

When some proud Son of Man returns to Earth,
Unknown to Glory but upheld by Birth,
The sculptor's art exhausts the pomp of woe,
And storied urns record who rests below:
When all is done, upon the Tomb is seen
Not what he was, but what he should have been.
But the poor Dog, in life the firmest friend,
The first to welcome, foremost to defend,
Whose honest heart is still his Master's own,
Who labours, fights, lives, breathes for him alone,
Unhonour'd falls, unnotic'd all his worth,
Deny'd in heaven the Soul he held on earth:
While man, vain insect! hopes to be forgiven,
And claims himself a sole exclusive heaven.
Oh man! thou feeble tenant of an hour,
Debas'd by slavery, or corrupt by power,
Who knows thee well, must quit thee with disgust,
Degraded mass of animated dust!
Thy love is lust, thy friendship all a cheat,
Thy tongue hypocrisy, thy heart deceit!
By nature vile, ennobled but by name,
Each kindred brute might bid thee blush for shame.
Ye! who behold perchance this simple urn,
Pass on, it honors none you wish to mourn.
To mark a friend's remains these stones arise;
I never knew but one—and here he lies.
