Related: About this forumMy morning, so far
Sian started attacking my nose so I covered my head. She then started attacking my feet. I covered them with a spare pillow. Next, the 'We're STARVING' vibes started flowing from the kidcats. Fine.
Got up and prepared breakfast. Gryff is nowhere to be seen. I put his dish on the counter and began my search. Meanwhile, Carys gobbled her food up and then pushed Arthur aside.
Found Gryff and gave him his bowl. Turned my back for a second and Madoc stole Gryff's food. Sigh. Retrieved Gryff's bowl, scolded Madoc (yea, pretty much a waste of time), put Gryff on a table and gave him his food. Madoc stared at me.
Now, back to Sian. She's discovered the joy of knocking things off of flat surfaces and had cleared the dining room table. Again, sigh.
And this was all before 6:15.
Now to get dressed and dash up to Kroger so I can buy a watermelon and some coffee. A BIG can of coffee. Perhaps some Kahlua will accidentally spill into that coffee. And I'll dash in order to get home and feed the ferals so they don't have to 'starve', too. And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way.
Good morning from me and ALL of my fur babies.

(1,230 posts)Were eating lots of watermelon this summer, too. Im finishing the latest one with breakfast. My husband saw a new way to cut them with less waste. He cuts just a thin slice from each end of the melon so it stands tall on the counter, then proceeds to to cut away the rind with long cuts from top to bottom. Pretty soon, he has a bare nekkid pretty in pink watermelon. Turns it on its side and cuts it into rounds, stacks several rounds and slices them into bite-sized chunks. Packs them in stackable containers and into the fridge.
Sounds crazy, but it works for him.
Me, Im used to smiling and nodding at lots of ideas he gets into his head. Hes a biochemist. No major disasters in our years together starting in summer of 1975, so I figure hes a keeper. And they said it wouldnt last! Some folks were quite scandalized when I moved in with him in 77 after college graduation. We married in 1980 and are still living our happily-ever-after, retired now, and returned from our 30 year exile in FloraBama to our beloved mountains in NC. Talk about a long and winding road.
Anyway, thanks for the reminder to add watermelon to the grocery list.
Have a lovely day, Siwsan, and your KitKidCats, too!

(27,269 posts)When I got back from the store I immediately fed the older ferals. In rushed Dewi to chomp on the big food. So I rushed back inside to mix some kitten kibble with pate, took it out to the back where Dylan was waiting, and then grabbed Dewi. He wasn't happy I was removing him from that bowl but he WAS happy when I put him down in front of a bowl with much easier to eat food.
They all are so much fun. Busy fun but fun, none the less.

(1,230 posts)Hes convinced, and Im okay with that.😉
Let us know if it works for you.
Our dog Molly-Good-Golly likes to chew the pale green off the rinds, especially with any bit of pink still showing. Do cats do that, too?
Ive heard about watermelon rind pickles but havent ever made them. I might process a small batch this year just for fun. We dont waste the rinds now, just add them to the compost.

(24,774 posts)Four pounds of ground turkey, two pounds of chicken gizzards, two cans of mixed vegetables, pureed so they won't know they are eating vegetables and a cup and a half of white rice. Bagged and frozen, this will last about two or three weeks.
