Penelope's crocuses

My 15-year-old cat Penelope passed on October 17, 2022. I buried her in the backyard flowerbed and planted crocuses on the mound of the grave last November. A photo of the grave was one of several I posted here last fall in a memorial. I mentioned planting the crocuses and DUer judesedit replied that the grave would look beautiful come springtime. That has come to pass as can be seen below in the photo I took this afternoon. The framed photo of my darling Penelope isn't a permanent part of the memorial. Thanks again to all who posted condolences.

I could not be comforted and I’m still missing her. I have Ruby now and she’s the love of my life now but I’ve never had a cat that I adored more than Angie. Our little fur babies steal our hearts for such a short time..

I still have Penelope's daughter, Calliope. We've grown even closer since Penelope's death. Penelope was a year old when I got her and Calliope was a just-weened kitten. She's still the baby.

I had arranged to be cremated and people would ask where I want the remains to be put, so I came up with putting my leftovers in my litter boxes. That way I can continue being useful!!!

The dust to dust, ashes to litter box had me laughing out loud! That's a good idea! A better use than sitting on the mantle or scattered to the winds.

Planting the crocuses and waiting for them to emerge and bloom has helped with my grieving her death.
