They will pee in the shredded paper litter boxes but will poop ONLY in the one box with traditional litter. So I'm off to buy some more.
On the bright side, Arthur hasn't had a any real swelling in a week, now. AND I accidentally fed them a can of shredded chicken that also had salmon in it (didn't notice that little piece of information until they had already tucked in) and Arthur had no reaction.
So off I go to the pet supply store. Hopefully they still have some of that Nutro pate because Arthur LOVES it.

(23,388 posts)vets always gave me and replace her sand litter with shredded paper. To be economical, I poured the sand into a black bag and stored it in her bedroom closet. When I went into her bedroom the morning after her surgery, the closet door was ajar. The top of the black bag was open. Recovering from major surgery, Arabella was determined to use the correct potty, even if it meant opening a closet door and a black bag despite her having to do so less than 24 hours from having only three legs! Arabella went on to comfort the homeless whom her mom tried to rescue.

I find it interesting that in a group they ll decide on and agree to the litter box etiquette. Talking to Mikey's other mom recently about his behavior now that his set up has changed for the better, she said he uses the box in the house to pee in and the one in the garage for pooping. She likes the arrangement, said she uses different litter in each.
It must be a universal preference for most cats!
