I just realized I wasn't given any dietary restrictions for Arthur, before tomorrow's vet visit

I'm thinking what the vet will do is more of a procedure than a surgery. Regardless, I'm not leaving any food out, tonight. I'll put out some kibble after I get Arthur into the carrier.

Fingers crossed this is the only non routine vet visit for the rest of 2023.

It is quite likely sedation/anesthesia is going to be necessary based on what you previously hlthe2b Jan 2023 #1

described, so what you plan is quite appropriate. No food late tonight and overnight and no breakfast prior to your appointment.

I suspect Arthur has had a partial rectal prolapse and the veterinarian will want to treat the area for swelling and reinsert, then place a little circular (purse-string) suture temporarily to allow it to heal. I'm sure Arthur will do just fine. to you both.

I've also learned to wait to put on my coat until AFTER I get him in the carrier. If I'm wearing a coat and try to pick him up, he's pretty much tuned in to what's about to happen and a through the house chase ensues.

The good thing is, if I have to leave him for a while, I'm only about a 5 minute drive from the office.

He needs anything beyond a routine checkup. I have always done this and never had any issues.

I've been so sleep deprived, apparently I didn't screw it on tight. Madoc is the king of taking advantage of that. I'm so ANGRY at myself, right now.

I'm taking him in, regardless, just in case it won't be a problem. I live just a little over a mile from the clinic so if they say to bring him back tomorrow, that's fine.

It dawned on me that they did say to bring him in at any time, today, so that leads me to believe it will be OK. But, again, if need be, we'll go back tomorrow and tonight I will lock the kibble jar in the pantry.
